Terms of Service

Last updated: 2026-08-23. Draft terms for the beta.

1. The service

pltchat lets you upload a data file and uses large language models (LLMs) to generate Python (matplotlib) plotting code that runs in your browser. You can refine the plot with natural-language prompts, download the plot and the generated code, and browse or fork your version history.

2. Accounts

Login is passwordless: you authenticate with a one-time code sent to your email address. You are responsible for keeping access to that email address secure and for all activity under your account.

3. Your data

You retain all rights to files you upload. Only a small sample (column names, data types, first rows) is sent to the LLM provider to generate loader code; the full file never leaves our server except to your own browser session. You must only upload data you have the right to process — no illegal content, and no personal data of third parties without a legal basis.

4. Generated code

Plotting code is generated by an LLM and is not reviewed by humans. It may be incorrect, misleading, or produce plots that misrepresent your data. You run and rely on generated code at your own risk; always verify results before using them for decisions.

5. Tokens and payments

6. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

7. Data retention

Uploaded files, prompts and generated code versions are stored until you delete your account (self-service, in the app footer). An anonymized token ledger — no longer linked to you — is retained for accounting and audit purposes. See the privacy policy for details.

8. Limitation of liability

The service is provided "as is" during beta, without warranties of any kind, express or implied. To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect or consequential damages, lost profits, or decisions made based on generated plots or code. Our aggregate liability is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim.

9. Termination

You can delete your account at any time from the app footer. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms, with notice where practicable. On termination your data is deleted as described in section 7; unused tokens are forfeited without refund except where required by law.

10. Changes

We may update these terms as the beta evolves; the date above always reflects the latest version. Continued use after a change constitutes acceptance.
